The Frame Is Open: Who We Are and What We’re Building

What Is Open Frame Productions?
A production company… duh. 😆

But not just ANY production company with a logo, a website, and a few ambitious ideas floating around. Open Frame Productions is a company built on integrity, structure, and industry standards.
That matters to me because independent production is often treated like the place where professionalism goes to take a nap. People hear “independent” and assume disorganized, underfunded, not profitable, unprepared, or thrown together at the last minute.
But hear me when I say: 🗣️ "It ain't gotta be like that!"
Independent does not have to mean careless or unintentional.
Independent does not have to mean chaotic, unprepared, or disorganized.
Independent does not have to mean low-standard or low-quality films where it seems like everyone involved was just hoping for the best.
Open Frame was created to challenge that and show that independent film can be high-quality, lucrative, cinematic, structured, strategic, and commercially viable. It can deliver the same level of care, preparation, and professionalism that people expect from larger productions, even when resources are smaller or different.
At its core, Open Frame Productions is a Houston-based film and media company focused on original storytelling, commercial production, creative development, and production services. But beyond the services, Open Frame is about becoming a part of the standard for Black cinema. It is about strengthening creatives, creating work with intention, preparing properly, respecting the process, and treating every project as a real asset meant to withstand the tests of time.
Because film is not just... content or something to do.
A story is not just something to upload, promote for two weeks, and forget about.
A production is not just people showing up with cameras, lights, and a strong prayer.
To me, film is legacy. It's business. It's culture. It's memory. It's ownership. It is evidence that we were here, that we had something to say, and that we knew how to say it with power.
That is why Open Frame is being built and operated differently.

I created Open Frame from lived experience. I have spent years learning, writing, producing, directing, shooting, editing, coloring, coordinating, problem-solving, and carrying projects through every stage of production. I know what it takes not just to complete a film from beginning to end, but to create a film of sufficient quality to advance careers, land better deals, attract bigger talent, interest investors, and open the door to distribution opportunities that do more than take from the film without truly building value behind it.
That kind of experience taught me a film has to have value beyond the filmmaker's milestone and the moment it was completed. Success won't come from high-end gear, high-budget talent, or popular indie producers and directors alone.
Because ultimately:
A beautiful image is not enough to save a project with no direction.
Recognizable names are not enough to sell a film with no market position.
A finished film isn't enough if no one involved knows how to sell it, place it, protect it, or build value around it.
Those things can definitely support a project, but they don't replace a strong story, a clear audience, a smart business strategy, proper packaging, disciplined production, intentional composition that creates feeling, creative direction that enforces vision, and a distribution rollout that enhances the chances of success.
This is why Open Frame is built with both the creative and business side of film in mind.
We're about creating leverage, and leverage means we are not walking into rooms with passion or a finished film alone. Leverage means showing up with vision, proof, preparation, and a plan. It means knowing what we bring to the table before asking for a seat. It means understanding buyer demands and knowing that our projects and assets have real market potential.

That is the difference.
Open Frame is not being built to look busy. It is being built to become effective.
It is not being built to chase every trend. It is being built to create work with weight that enables success.
It is not being built to copy every other independent production company. It is being built to stand on its own identity, standards, and purpose.
In 5 years, I want Open Frame to be recognized in the same conversations as companies like Blumhouse, NEON, or A24. These are amazing companies with a clear identity, defined audience, and the ability to turn bold creative choices into real business.
The frame is open, the projects are independent, but the standard is not low. Meaning the invitation for meaningful partnerships and collaboration is there, but it is not an invitation to unprofessionalism.
I believe independent film and media can be bold, strategic, professional, and powerful. I believe stories deserve structure.
I believe crews deserve respect.
I believe clients deserve clarity.
I believe talent deserves development.
I believe production should be creative, but also responsible.
Open Frame exists to create, develop, and deliver high-quality media with intention.
And we are just getting started.
