Logline

A group of filmmakers involved in an actress’s assault are invited to an exclusive industry mixer—only to discover the night is a trap designed to force confession and deliver punishment.

Short Synopsis

On the eve of a major court appearance, attorneys review body-camera footage of an actress’s police testimony against predatory film producers. Confident they’ll finally bring the men down, they call their key witness, Danielle, to confirm she’s ready to testify—only for Danielle to be attacked moments after the call. Her attacker, one of the producers’ henchmen, phones in to confirm the job is done while the producers attend a release party hosted by aspiring actress Courtney.

With their case collapsing and their power intact, the producers set their sights on Courtney, and the night ends with her assault. Six months later, after a brutal blowout in court, the suspects walk free and Courtney is left with shattered, incomplete memories of what happened. When everyone receives an invitation to an exclusive mixer titled “Crew Call,” Courtney chooses to attend—knowing the producers will be there, but unaware the night is a trap designed to force everyone involved to finally face what they did.

The film follows a desperate actress who ignores warnings and agrees to meet with two producers known for predatory behavior. That decision places her in a situation where she is drugged and assaulted—an event she does not fully remember.

But the story doesn’t end there.

A district attorney, frustrated by the system’s failure to hold these producers accountable, orchestrates an event that brings everyone connected to that night into one space: an industry mixer known as “Crew Call.”

What begins as a networking event becomes something else entirely.

As the night unfolds, each person is forced to confront their role in what happened. The producers who committed the act. The individuals who enabled it. The ones who knew—and chose silence. And the actress, whose desperation led her into a situation she was warned about.

No one walks away untouched.

Through a series of escalating consequences, the truth is exposed—and each character faces the outcome of their choices.

Crew Call is not just about what was done, but about what was allowed. It examines how a broken culture sustains itself—and what happens when accountability is no longer optional.

The Origin of Crew Call

Crew Call began in 2023 during a collaboration with a group of women filmmakers in Houston, Texas. We all shared a common goal: to take our careers to the next level, whatever that meant for each of us individually.

For me, it meant something clear. After more than a decade of learning the craft, building my skillset, and working as crew on other people’s projects, producing, shooting, and supporting, I hadn’t yet completed a film of my own. There comes a point where preparation has to turn into execution.

During one of our conversations about our hardships, we made a decision: we would support each other in taking that next step. I would bring my experience, producing, cinematography, writing, editing, and in return, they would support my project.

I didn’t wait, because, if there’s one thing I understand, it’s that time isn’t guaranteed. So I moved immediately.

The central theme of the film came from our experiences in our local film community—predatory producers, shady people, thieves, and desperate crew and actors keep the toxicity alive.

Crew Call wasn’t just an idea; it was a decision to execute a goal that I'd spent a decade working towards, and to do so in my voice, and with a subject that was real to me.
